Also, bison graze differently than cattle, prefering different
plants, etc. This is even more true of native browsers like
deer and antelope. Don't ever let a cattleman argue that
cows don't hurt sage-steppe anymore than deer and pronghorn!

One way in which bison differ in cattle is that they will
travel a lot farther from water. Cattle in semi-arid country
don't graze the range evenly unless there are many, many
guzzlers or other source of water.

Actually, some of the older, wilder breeds would travel further
from water, but of course the ranching industry prefers
the modern hybrids which put meat on quicker, and continue
to do so longer than these historic breeds.
