I talked to Sam as well which is where the thought in the prior post came
from. Sam and a collaborator are working on the problem and have done a lot
of work on hormone extraction which has gone well. They have even done some
work with our resident(unreleasable) Spotted Owl.

Sam believes he is close to being able to do DNA extraction on mamals but the
procedure is difficult and time consuming and has not, as I understand it,
been field tested. Preliminary work with the Forensics lab in Ashland has not
been conclusive.
