been a large concentration of juvenile and immature Red-tailed Hawks (18 to 20)
and adult Swainson's Hawks (5-7) on the Wahluke Wildlife Area (DeLorme p. 53 T
14N R 27E Sec 10, 15-16, 22) in Grant County reached by heading south on
the the north - south road leaving Hwy 24 near milepost 63).

The attraction: scads of Jerusalem crickets. The crickets population seems
densest in the bitterbrush/Indian ricegrass habitats which border the White
Bluffs here. Also attracted to the many crickets are lots of Ring-billed Gulls
(100+) and ravens (30+ today). Its an interesting sight, best viewed between
0800 and 1000 in the morning when the crickets are getting warmed and wound up.
