I heard a couple of years ago about a program sponsored by the NY Audubon(the
independent one) and the professional golf course managers association to
establish a wildlife friendly set of guidelines for use of fertilizers,
pesticides and herbicides on golf courses. I was also told by the executive
director of the NY Audubon that a significant number of courses had signed
onto the program. I don't know how widespread the program is or if any
courses in the west have signed on.
