In the course of capturing literally hundreds of hawks for banding,
I've seen many redtail stoops which are far more intense than
those I've seen from falcons. Most prairie/peregrine falcons
come rushing in at high speed, but not very high up. Redtails
will often soar overhead, maybe even kite (though this is usually
a sign of suspiciousness), and stoop straight down. Even sharpies
will "get vertical". The observers (migrant counters) actually
get a better view of this than the folks in the blind most often.
