RE what Gene wrote about Robert Kavanaugh and conserving pigeons by
conserving Garry oaks in southern Washington:

Do any of you tweeters know if Band-tailed Pigeons are indeed associated
with oaks in western Washington? I wonder if this isn't a species like
Hutton's Vireo and Black-throated Gray Warbler that is associated with oaks
elsewhere in its range but not in the Pacific Northwest? I don't think
there are (many) BTPIs in Yakima and Klickitat counties, where oaks are
abundant, and I don't recall seeing them in oaks at Ft. Lewis. I haven't
spent that much time in the oaks south of there. Any other info out there?
