Hi,

Well it's been said before, yawn, but the Caspian Terns need YOU.

There is still time to enlist for the big push on Saturday AND Sunday.
Starting at 09.00 hrs at the public boat launch, Port of Everett. Bring along
some tools if you can, shovels and rakes are most useful, doesn't matter if
you can't, a pair of hands is more important. You'll also need to bring lunch,
some warm and weatherproof clothes. Sorry I don't have the latest forecast.

For all the details and more contact your local recruiting officer, John
Flavin on (206) 744 0805.

News Update

The majority of the (Scots) Broom has been cleared, however there is still a
way to go. The next stage, already started, is to rake up all the debris from
the proposed creche area where, young terns hang around, just outside of the
main nesting area. The nesting area itself will be covered in gravel.

It looks like the tractor did not make it the island. The Army were scared
that it was a bit too heavy and decided not to take the chance and wreck a
rather expensive helicopter. John Flavin thinks the Navy will help out to
remove the largest remaining Broom bushes and move some logs once the site is
ready for the gravel.

Having got the bad^H^H^H not so good, news out of the way, the good news is
that the Arctic Tern is still hanging around - so there is still 14 days to
get it onto your March List.

Western Meadowlarks are still hanging around. Merlin, Northern Harrier, Bald
Eagle are still there. The Killdeer are displaying - pretty neat. Lots of
honking Canada Geese, one or two Black-bellied Plover, a few hundred Dunlin
and plenty of Barrow's Goldeneye. River Otter, Townsend's Vole and possibly a
Coyote are also around.

The Burrowing Tri-coloured Quail were seen at Stevens Pass, flying W, so
chances are good for the weekend.
