I was sitting in my home looking out the window toward Captital Lake
here in Olympia, when a rush of movement caught my eye. An adult bald
eagle with another adult bald eagle in hot pursuit, no more than 1 foot
off its tail, went through the ravine behind my house no more than 15
feet in front of the window. There were 7 or 8 crows vocalizing and
following the eagles. The ravine is wooded, and while I've seen an
occasional accipiter, never an eagle. Today I saw two!
This is particularly curious as I live very close to downtown Olympia and
the only eagles I've seen have been quite high and circling over the lake.
I'm guessing it was a territorial dispute as the lead eagle was not
carrying any prey.

.what a kickoff to the weekend!
