I'm curious how the Glaucous Gulls were aged? In my experience the vast
majority of Glaucous Gulls down this far are 1st winter. They can be
very white/pale but should have dark eyes in 1st winter and maybe pale
eyes by the 2nd winter by which time they should also show pale gray on
the center of the back/mantle. It seems very odd to have so many 2nd
winter birds and no 1st winter birds. The guides can be misleading on
this id of course.
