Maybe wolves, but maybe not. Size is the main thing there, they're a lot
bigger than any coyote; bigger than german shepherds. To give you an
idea of size, the wolves I saw in Denali next to the school bus were so large
it seemed that you could reach them from the windows.
The likelihood that what you saw were wolves is not high, but not out of the
question either. Wolves are known to den in the North Cascades in remote areas
particularly up north and west of Lake Chelan. I don't know the exact area of
their occurrence, but they're there. You might check with USFS ranger
station in that area, they might have other reports.
