This morning there were 2-3 Cliff Swallows amongst all the many V.G.'s and Trees
at Tennant Lake, n. of bellingham. At nearby Lake Terrell, there were 4-5 N.
Rough Wings, again with many v.g.'s and trees. I looked carefully for Barns but
there were none. Then, at Lake Terrell, I found an amazingly early House Wren!!!
This is a very rare bird in Whatcom County. I will submit my sketch and written
description to terry Wahl at our WOS meeting on Wednesday. According to the Wahl
-Paulson Bible, this bird shouldn't arrive here until mid-May. In contrast,I
also saw my first Rufous Hummers (2) this morning. Last year they showed up on
March 12. Whats going on?
