Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, March 23rd. If you have anything to add, call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

The pale BROWN THRASHER [pale-brown thrasher (sp.)?] that has been
wintering in Klamath Falls since last November continues to be seen.

A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was near Canby MAR 20 & 21, and may still be in
the area. The Wilhoit Springs BARRED OWL was noted MAR 21. Wilhoit
Springs is south of Molalla. An OSPREY was at Ross Island, in
Portland, MAR 16.

A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at Silver Lake [Wildlife] Management Area
MAR 19.

Large flocks of white geese are now at the Miller Island Wildlife
[Management] Area near Klamath Falls. The largest majority are
ROSS' GEESE. Two blue-phase ROSS' and 2 blue-phase SNOW GEESE were
there MAR 18.

The main incoming migrants during the past week were VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOWS and the [MOUNTAIN] BLUEBIRDS through eastern Oregon. The
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS should be in neighborhoods within a few days.

Good numbers of SANDHILL CRANES are now on Sauvie Island, but
peak numbers have yet to arrive.

That's it for this week.
