On Sunday, March 26, I was on a boat trip that went around Bainbridge
Island, lead by George Gerts. On the west side of the island off of Owl
Point, we encountered a flock of about 250 Pacific Loons. In this flock
was an almost pure white loon. It was the same size and shape of the
other Pacific Loons nearby. It was nearly pure white with the exception
of a little bit of pale rusty brown coloration on the nape and on the
primary feathers. The bill was pale whitish brown color also, and to my
best recollection, the eye was a simular pale whitish brown. It was
difficult to study the bird at lenght as it was as skitish as the rest of
the Loons, diving and resurfacing a good distance away from the boat. We
tried to keep up with it and get a better extended look at it, but it
proved to be very difficult.

An other good bird seen on the trip was a Clark's Grebe. We saw upwards
to 4200 Western Grebes in the course of the trip, so our chances of
encountering a Clark's Grebe were pretty high. If we had the time to stop
and carefully check each group of grebes that we encountered, I'm sure we
would have found more.
