I think this urban myth was perpetuated by church custodians who find
cleaning up rice to be tedious, especially on nice weekends. Rice on
concrete stairs is slippery under foot and a hazzard for falls.
Even though it is not hazardous to birds, it's still not a good idea to
throw it. Would "minute rice" would be less of a hazzard for falls?
