Interesting. This must have occured recently. I visited the canyon
last spring (may, 94) and drove my Dodge mini van all the way
through it (about 5 mi) although I wouldn't recommend driving
without a 4-wheel drive with high clearance and a very good spare
tire (I had a flat about 3 miles in). I'm not sure of the status
at the time, but the gate was unlocked; I may have been trespassing.
