i know ddt is still widely used in india and when i was home
last christmas, i spoke to a local birder/biologist who expressed his
concern over the declining kite population (sp. brahmini and black
shouldered kite) possibly due to ddt usage. it presumably affects other
species like egrets which hang out in the paddy fields sprayed with these
insecticides.
