Hi Kris!
What a treat it was to visit with you and Theresa that afternoon--way back
when-- at Karen's house. Gosh, has Theresa matured! Hard to believe that
their 1st year of high school is almost to a close. Where does the time go?
I've been meaning to write for a while now and 'things' just keep eating my
time away. Lately I've been getting into my creating just alittle bit. I did
take a one week workshop with Skip Lawrence--a watercolor artist. It was
interesting and very demanding, but great to be focused on art again. I hope
to take a couple studio classes--still life painting & figure drawing-- at
the Penn. Academy of Fine Arts in Philly. The academy is the oldest art
school in the country and is noted for it's traditional style of teaching
(focuses on drawing-- the basis of all great works of art!). A school
similar to this is in Seattle-- The Realistic School of Art--which was
started a few years ago by the artist, Gary Faigan and his wife. They're
modeling it after the NY Arts Student League.
Mike started his baseball season on Mother's Day--sprinkling proceeding to
pouring rain and cancelled in the 5th inning (enough to call it a game).
They've had 5 games and remain undefeated. Mike pitched all of the first
and third games and part of the fifth game. It's the second season that the
team is together and they're looking good.
This weekend the coach planned a trip for the team to the Baseball Hall of
Fame in Cooperstown, NY--6hours by bus. Ten of the fourteen player and a few
dads are on the trip including Tom and Mike. Thought you might enjoy this
story: Tom has been out straight with work and his travel for it--we haven't
had a normal weekend in I don't know how long. Needless to say, after
travel, work and a tense game of Mike's, which ended at 10:15PM--to bed at
midnight and up to catch the bus at 6:30AM--Tom's tail was dragging. They
were the last to meet the group--after I insisted that they stop to get
medicine for Mike's soar throat--and was informed that the last dad to arrive
would have late night hall watch! Of course Tom thought he was covered,
since he and Mike are rooming together, thinking he'd at least get a good
night's sleep! Should be interesting what the outcome of all this is. Isn't
that just Tom's luck!
Well, I guess not too much has changed in our lives. Still as crazy as ever.
do wish it would slow down a bit. One big thing missing--our WA friends.
We miss you guys! You'll have to plan a visit to the wild, wild east some
time. Love to see you people again--maybe we can set up the booth for old
times sake!
Well got to go for now. Take care and writ when you get a chance.
Love, Laureen
