Greetings tweeters;

I travelled to Victoria on Friday via the BC ferry from pier 48. Lucky for
me (and not so lucky for people of the seasick variety) it was very windy.
Pigeon Guillemots were very common up to Whidbey Island. Rhinoceros
Auklets were next commonest flying mostly in pairs ( I saw about 40 birds)
from Whidbey Island to Victoria. No Tufted Puffins but one Cassin's Auklet
flying very fast and low to the water near Protection Island. The best birds
were the Fork-tailed Storm-Petrels. I saw a dozen birds about half way
across the strait. It was the first time I've seen these birds on the
crossing but I think this was the windiest one in the 10 or so trips I've
been on. Highly recommended for 4 1/2 hours of birding (expresso bar and
pub on board).
