Since I've had two tweets request directions to the owl site, though
I'd post directly to the group. I'll probably be checking this
place out again to add to my photo collection (this is the same
owl you may have seen in my web snaps).

You get there by taking the Corvallis exit off I5, go west, take
99E south towards Bell Plain Rd, take Bell Plain west through
some typical rural 90-degree twists around section boundaries
until McLagan Road dead-ends from the north (this is the simplest,
not necessarily shortest, route). Last year, the owl hung out
at the NW part of the intersection, living in culverts near the
corner. If you don't see it, chance are you're looking to
far away! Here's last year's OBOL note:

There is again a BURROWING OWL wintering in w. Linn County. Still there
today, it was first reported by my dad on Dec. 3. It is at
the NW corner of Bell Plain and McLagan Rds. Bell Plain is the E-W road
at the northern end of Davis Rd. and also intersects with 99E n. of
Shedd. McLagan is the first rd. heading n.to the e. of Davis Rd. DeLorme
pg. 47, 7A (extreme top of the page). This is exactly the same spot where
one wintered (unknown to most people) last year. The Green Valley Rd.
bird is not there this winter and that culvert is filled with water.

Other birds in the general area include 12 HORNED LARKS at the n. end of
Harmony Rd., and 132 TUNDRA SWANS s. of American Drive, and on Dec. 3, my
dad saw a PRARIE FALCON along Davis Rd.

(Don again)

If you're all the way down there, you might want to continue south
and cross the freeway to Mt. Tom Road (check your maps). If you
head east on Mt. Tom Road to Mt. Tom, you'll find why it's called
Mt. Tom after you enter the area with houses: lots of Toms around
(as in Tom Turkey). And hens, too. Usually you can see them
perched on cars, wandering around lawns, etc.
