Sorry, I was a bit sloppy with my communications about the Harriers. I know
that the male passes food to the female. I'vd also seen the White-tailed Kite
do this. I partially "saved" a very non-productive field trip I was leading
by telling everybody that a male Northern Harrier that was carrying a mouse
was soon going to be joined by a female to whom he would transfer the food.
She did and he did and everybody thought it was quite something and I felt
like I got away with something. But I was just casually wondering in a very
human sense the reactions of the female harrier on being given such a
fly-away meal. A very unscientific muse on my part. I will attempt to be
clearer next time.
