Lanner falcons are native to southern Europe, the Arabian penninsula,
and Africa. Or so sez the bookcase. They're a medium-sized
falcon not quite as chunky and robust as a peregrine, it seems.

So, what's the skinny on this wildlife case from 1572? Really, I'm
interested.
