A very nice lady, Nancy Ladenberger, who is very active in the
Kitsap Autubon Society here on the Kitsap Peninsula near Seattle,
Washington is planning her third trip to Trinidad and Tobago , April 18
to April 28, 1996.
Eric Greenwood of Vancouver,B.C. wanted to
know if any events were going on this coming Spring or Summer in a very
recent posting.
In answer to Eric's request the
following information is being presented as Nancy is not a member of
Tweeters but I would like to let anyone interested know about this
trip. BASIC DETAILS:
Trinidad is approximately 12 miles off the coast of Venezuela and has
nearly 400 species of birds on the checklist. You'll be staying at the
world famous Asa Wright Nature Center with its unbelievable verandah
for viewing birds. She says ," On the first day before breakfast, it's
possible to see 40 new species of birds from this verandah". {that is
if you have never been around this area before} Tobago, Trinidad's
sister island, is approximately 26 miles from Trinidad. It is a
beautiful island with many beaches but not as many bird species. However,
there are some species on Tobago that are not on Trinidad. An expert
birding guide , Winston Nanan will be leading you around. For details
on prices etc... details etc..... Contact: Nancy Ladenberger, P. O.
Box 1012, Kingston, Wa. 98346 Ph. 369 297 8063 { she says that you
should leave a message if she's not home and she'll get back to you. }

Thankyou for
letting me share this with you. Also, I live on a very high bank
waterfront piece of property on the East side of Bainbridge Island. I
usually have a lot of time off as I basically work in Alaska during the
summer. If any Tweeter is traveling across Bainbridge Island on
business or a birding adventure, please stop. The coffee pot is always
on and it's an excellent place to set up a spoting scope to look out
over the sound. I'm in the process of purchasing a scope as my old
telescope just doesn't cut the mustard, and i might pick your brain a
little. ph 206,842,5273. Also: I would like to
build a Belted KingFisher nesting box. Would any of you "experts" care
to advise me on my endeavorments? Any advise would be greratly
appreciated. Me!!!! One more lunker out of the
back rows. Patrick McManus kinda said something like this in one of his
books," A Tweeter will always wave, but a goose will surely honk".
