I ran across the following:
http://www.calexplorer.com/flash.html
"flash" is a great-horned owl who caused a flashover in an electrical
transformer farm, and lived to have her tale told. Pretty amazing,
you can see in the photos how all of her flight feathers were burnt
to the quill, etc. A happy ending. No, not releasable - she lost
the patagial tendon in one wing. It was one well-done owl! But
she's become a healthy "edu-bird", apparently.
Though I'm not a big fan of rehab in general (no flames, please - despite
this I was one of the major players in a PAS re-org effort that allowed
us to keep our rehab center open), this is an interesting and fairly
well-written story.
