I am banding and color marking Peregrine Falcons along Washington's
outer coast (Columbia River to Pt. Grenville) and in Grays Harbor. The
color markers are blue and black and are coded with two numbers or one
number and one letter. They may be read from a distance of up to
100 meters with a spotting scope.

So far, four birds have been banded:

Please keep your eyes pealed for these and other Peregrines that might
be color marked. Many are, as we have learned from recent Tweeters
messages.

All of those I band (except "3V") will have the color-coded band on
the left leg and a standard aluminum band on the right. "3V" has the
color marker on her right leg, aluminum band on the left.

Look carefully at the peregrines you see, as they may be banded!
