For those of us with little else to do and plenty of funds to
indulge ourselves (hardly me), I thought you might enjoy the
following piece from the UK (Birdwatch October 1995):

Dave Farrow is now one step away from completing his quest to see
all of the worlds 24 nuthatches. On 20 species by early spring this
year, he added White-browed Nuthatch, an endemic of Mount Victoria,
Burma, on April Fools Day, and notched up number 22 shortly
afterwards with Yellow-billed Nuthatch in Hainan, China. The
penultimate hatch, Sulphur-billed, was laid to rest on Mount
Makiling, near Manila, Philippines, at the end of June. The one
species outstanding, a montane specialist of certain south-east
Asian forests, is the most attractive of all: Beautiful Nuthatch.

An adjacent article mentions that the Scottish Crossbill is
Britains only endemic species.

What about Stuart?

Speaking of Stuart:

Stuart, what is the Reality Birding League written up in this
magazine. It appears to be a complicated birding competition
awarding points to participants for sightings. However, the exact
details are not mentioned. Incidentally, its safe to talk about
such subjects as I believe Dennis is still out of the country.
