The key thing about endemic species is that they don't migrate :-)

I don't know. However, given that idle speculation in the absence of facts is
a particular speciality of mine - I suspect that it might be a way of making
some of the 24 hour birding marathons a bit more interesting. Unusual birds
get more kudos and points etc.

It's also probably somebody having a pot-shot at the Fantasy Football Leagues
that are so common over here. Just the same way that some wry individual came
up with the idea that instead of having ice-cream snickers and mars bars they
could deep-fry them in batter. Amazingly popular in health-concious Scotland,
which doesn't have the worst record for heart disease in Europe for nothing
!!!

I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about it - yuk.
