When we visited southern France a few years ago, we saw many hoopoes
wandering around the archeological park in Arles. This is a great area to
stay and to bird, as it is quite close to the Camargue. Besides the hoopoes
and many European birds, you will likely see little bustards, rollers, and
many other wonderful birds.
