This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

On November 4, Warren Hall reports 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTER and 2
SURF SCOTER at the north end of Lenore Lake in northwestern Grant
County, Washington. Today, November 10, Mike Denny reports 30+
HOODED MERGANSERS and a single RED-NECKED GREBE. Lenore Lake
is in northwestern Grant County, Washington, between Coulee City and
Soap Lake along Washington 17. See Washington DeLorme p. 84-85,
right at the bottom on the crease.

Mike also had a male WHITE-WINGED SCOTER at the south end of Banks
Lake from atop Dry Falls Dam. The dam is 1 mile west of Coulee City
along US 2. Washington DeLorme p. 85, half-way between c- and d-6.
170 TUNDRA SWAN were observed by Mike Denny at Atkins Lake, about
6 miles west of Coulee City, Washington, November 10.

Warren Hall also reports a single YELLOW-BILLED LOON and 2 PACIFIC
LOONS were with 45 COMMON LOONS on the northeastern end of Blue
Lake in northwestern Grant County, Washington on November 4. Like
Lenore Lake, Blue Lake is between Coulee City and Soap Lake along
Washington 17. Also in the vicinity were 2 adult GOLDEN EAGLES. Two
nice flocks of DUNLIN were reported.

On November 4 Warren Hall reports 13 on the East Beach or City Beach
at Soap Lake, Washington. Soap Lake is north northwest of Moses Lake.

John and Marty Hirth report 35 DUNLIN and 8 hunters at the Walla Walla
River Delta today, November 10. The Walla Walla River Delta is about 30
miles west of Walla Walla at the Columbia River, just north of the junction
of US 12 and US 730. Just before milepost 307, turn left onto the gravel
two-track opposite North Shore Road. See Washington DeLorme p. 40,
d-1.

Warren Hall reports 40+ SNOW BUNTINGS and 4-6 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS in with HORNED LARKS about 4 miles southwest of
Harrington, Washington on November 4. The birds were near mile post
113 along Washington 28. Harrington is about 25 miles north of Ritzville
in Lincoln County. See Washington DeLorme p. 71, a-6.

Mike Denny saw 5 SNOW BUNTINGS in a flock of 400 HORNED LARKS
near mile post 184 along US 2 near Coulee City. Also in the area were
NORTHERN SHRIKE and ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS.

On the Idaho side, Dan Svingen and I had 14 GREATER SCAUP and a few
COMMON LOONS at Cottonwood Point along the southern end of Lake
Coeur d'Alene, today, November 10. Cottonwood Point is at mile post
8.3 along Idaho 5 between St. Maries and Plummer. See Idaho DeLorme
p. 60, c-2.

At Fish Hook State Park today, November 10, John and Marty Hirth had a
LINCOLN'S SPARROW and a single BARN OWL. Fish Hook is east of
Pasco, Washington, along Washington 124. See Washington DeLorme p.
40, b-2.

BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen at several locales November 10. Mike
Denny saw 3 at Parker Horn which is behind the Wal-Mart in Moses Lake,
Washington. Also there were 12 TUNDRA SWANS and 25+ GADWALL.
He also had a BONAPARTE'S GULL at Soap Lake.

Dan Svingen and I had BONAPARTE'S GULLS at both the St. Maries
Sewage Ponds and 8 at the Coeur d'Alene WMA north of Harrison, Idaho.
Also at the sewage ponds were 3 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. Also at the
Coeur d'Alene WMA were 10 TUNDRA SWANS and 2 NORTHERN
SHRIKE. The sewage ponds are along Idaho 3 at mile post 86 about one
mile north of St. Maries. There are pullouts at either end. The Coeur
d'Alene WMA is 1.4 miles north of Harrison along Idaho 97. See Idaho
DeLorme p. 60, c-2.

Mike Denny saw 3 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and 60+ EARED GREBES at
Soap Lake, Washington on November 10. Soap Lake is north northwest
of Moses Lake. See Washington DeLorme p. 69, a-5.

Dan Svingen and I had 2 MARSH WRENS at Plummer Creek marsh in
Heyburn State Park, Idaho, today. The road to the marsh is at milepost
6.3 along Idaho 5 between St. Maries and Plummer. Follow the road
about 1 mile to the bridge over Plummer Creek. See Idaho DeLorme p.
60, c-1.

While Dan and I were out looking for birds, Ila Svingen spied a BEWICK'S
WREN in my yard 5 miles south of Moscow, Idaho, today, November 10.

Finally, PRAIRIE FALCONS. The Hirths had one at Palouse Falls State
Park southeast of Washtucna, Washington, November 10. Take
Washington 260 south from Washtucna to Washington 261. See
Washington DeLorme p. 55, c-7. Dan and Ila Svingen report another
about 5 miles north of Grangeville, Idaho, on November 5.
