Well as I suspected the truth concerning developments at Montlake Fill is
more a story of "incompetence" rather than conspiracy.

The use of the Seattle Audubon Society name on the notice that was erected
was apparently a unilateral move by one of the students or their supervisor. I
spoke to Kern Ewing at CUH and we came to the conclusion that it was a
misunderstanding on behalf of the parties involved. They mistakenly assumed
that the work to remove the purple loosestrife was being carried out under the
auspices of SAS and so re-vegetating the pond also fell under this effort.

Also the decision to re-vegetate the pond was also apparently a unilateral
effort. The Centre for Urban Horticulture expressly asked their students to
get in contact with the tweeters who removed the loosestrife to see if there
would be any conflict in their proposed projects. Obviously in this case a
communication breakdown occurred.

Well I'm sure glad I didn't cancel my Audubon membership this morning as I
had previously vowed to do so :-)

Stuart - who's blood pressure is now considerably lower than it was yesterday :-)
