A similar story is told by Australian naturalist Stanley Breeden in his
lovely book "Visions of a Rainforest". In this case a researcher studying
Lumholtz's tree kangaroos on the Atherton Tableland in northern Queensland
(one of my favourite spots on Earth, BTW) had a number of radio-collared
animals. One day, however, he tracked a signal not to a tree kangaroo but
to a large amethystine python with a bulge in its stomach!
