This the initiative to place a levy on outdoor gear much like the
levy on rifles and ammunition...

I learned last night at the PAS Board meeting that REI has chosen
NOT to support it, "based on a canvass of our members" (not a
single PAS board member, of which nearly 100% are REI members,
were included, of course, were you? :)

It wasn't clear if this has been formally decided, but the Coalition
representatives in (I presume) Seattle have been informed.

Those of you who are REI members might want to send them a note
telling them you support this campaign.

Apparently even the Grinch-rich supports this, though I don't know
how much stock to put in such mumbling until legislation actually
is introduced.
