My 9th grade daughter is writing a research paper on the effects of the
Chernobyl incident in 1986. Last night she told me that bird populations
dropped to 1/2 normal in Washington and Oregon within 1 year of the
incident. She had a reference, but unfortunately I don't have it with me.
I asked a few ordinary questions like "some or all species?", "were normal
population variations taken into account?". She didn't know.

Do any of you know of an overall or species population crash here in the PNW
that has been correlated with the Chernobyl incident? I will try to post
her reference tonight.
