Lord Hill (or Lords Hill to us old-timers [be sure to look for
Devils Butte!]) is a 4,000-acre, 600-foot high hill in the
Snohomish River valley between Snohomish and Monroe. Snohomish
Countys Lord Hill Regional Park is about 1,300 acres. From Seattle
(Woodinville) take the death-defying Highway #522 towards Monroe
(Stevens Pass). Exit after crossing the river (Snohomish on your
left and the Snoqualmie and Skykomish on your right) on to (a)
Old-Snohomish-Monroe Highway, (b) Main Street [Monroe], or (c) 164th
St. My home map isnt clear. In any case, its the first exit after
the river. Turn left - northwest - up the Old-Snohomish-Monroe
Highway about 4+ miles and turn left (south) on to 127th Av. SE or
Lord Hill Road. Drive up hill to the almost end and turn left into
the park.

Easiest directions from Everett are somewhat similar: Drive east on
Highway 2 to Monroe, get on SR-522 (it starts there) and head south
across to town to (a) Old-Snohomish-Monroe Highway, (b) Main Street
[Monroe], or (c) 164th St. Turn right and go to 127th Ave.

In this weather I suggest mud boots. The county has already
discovered some people problems (and the park has only been open
since October!): lose dogs chasing wildlife; lose mountain bikers
spooking people and horses (and probably wildlife) and horses just
doing what horses do.

I would be curious to hear your comments on this facility. And let
us know what birds are seen.

Fred
