Wanted to share some significant bird sightings around Spokane:

1 Eurasion widgeon - male seen just north of Stevens/Spokane County line on
Long Lake
1 Bald Eagle - adult flying up Little Spokane River

also the gadwalls seemed to have just arrived here
relatively low numbers of waterfowl other than mallards. Maybe too mild
of weather so far??

Other significant sighting is NO sighting of short-eared owls!! Appears
to have been a crash of the population. Anyway else noticed this and if
so any suggestions as to why?? Would the extremely wet spring have had a
negative effect?

Thanks,
