We went to Blewett pass to watch the hawks this weekend. Without
luck we would not have found Diamond Head. Here are better
instructions. Heading north on 97, just after Blewett Pass turn right
onto Forest Service Road 9712 (there is a good forest service map
here/with Diamond Head on it!). Driving on 9712 (stay on the main
raod). Turn left at the Y following road to
Haney Meadow. It is hard to describe the parking spot. Before heading
down the hill and shortly after turnoff for Wenatchee you will probably
see a few cars and a trail/road up the hill.

Saturday was very cold and windy--and WET. We stayed on the mountain
about 2 hours. Saw 3 sharpies, two nuthatches, flock of robins. There
were a small group from Wenatchee Audubon, two people from San Diego (not
accliamatized), Dave of Hawkwatch, and Dan Stephens from Department of
Biology, Wenenatchee. The wind was wrong and the weather worse. Dave
thought the height of migration was over; but, they had seen 51 raptors on
Friday. Our lunch was so wet we did not go back up the mountain. I hope
it all got better and they saw lots in the afternoon. Dan? does that
about rap it up? It was nice to meet Dan Stephens. And we know where to
go next year.

The fall colors were spectacular!
