In my yard in Seattle on Saturday, 7 October: Western Tanager (late) and
adult White-throated Sparrow (new bird for yard, always a thrill).

At Spencer Island, Everett, on Sunday, 8 October: 1 Great Egret, 1
American Bittern, several Virginia Rails, 1 Sora (watched at length as it
foraged outside the cattails), 7 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Dunlins, 25
Long-billed Dowitchers, 30 Common Snipes (big flock kept flushing when
harriers flew over), large numbers of (Myrtle) Yellow-rumped Warblers, lots
of Lincoln's Sparrows.

Everett Sewage Ponds had amazingly low diversity, huge # of No. Shovelers &
Ruddy Ducks, with very few of anything else (coots, several gull species, 7
Eared Grebes, 2 Buffleheads). I wonder if the food web has changed there.
Lapland Longspur seen at edge of ponds by Yvonne Bombardier.
