Robins are starting to form their winter flocks again. I saw my first
flock of the season yesterday at Camp Bishop, west of Shelton, where about
30 Robins were working their way across a grassy field. What do we know
about these flocks? I've always assumed they were local birds that have
left their territories, but have there been any banding studies that
would tell us if some are migrants from the north, or how many are locals
and how many are migrants?
