The bar-tailed godwit first reported mid-September, again 27 September, was
seen again Monday 9 October, Saturday 14 October, and Monday 16 October at
the Tokeland Marina. Low tide is best, and it has been on the rock
breakwater to the left of and in front of the Marina store, the mudflats to
the left of the breakwater (climb it to see the flats, be careful as they
can be right in front of you), and on the bay to the right of the marina
area. It is a pale, juvenile bird. Really lovely. It is not particularly
wary, as I photographed it at a distance of about 20 feet. Does anyone
know if photos of this should go to the records committee? Thanks, Tim
