I imagine that these are the first in the lower mainland (unless they have
been in Vancouver Island) but they are not the first in B.C.. In fact, the
Magnolia breeds in the extreme northeast corner of the province (Peace river
area). I wonder why you have gotten such a rash of records this year, its
weird. It seems to be a local phenomenon as there were no higher numbers of
that species here in coastal California than normal as far as I know. They
are a rare, but regular eastern vagrant here.
