Yes, Pine does this, but only if the user wants it to. I do this all the
time--include the original message in my reply. However, I can snip at
will in the editing mode, and *do*. I don't think those messages you
refer to are posted by default, Don, but probably through ignorance or
laziness.

P.S. As I mentioned to Serge, in those instances when someone reposts a
long message in its entirety, what seems to work well is a polite message
directly to the offender, who simply may not be aware that their modus
operandi is annoying to others on the list.
