I've cleared an small rectanglar area of grass and blackberry at Montlake
Fill to the north west of the old telegraph pole near the central pond and put
a load of seed down for sparrows. It should be pretty obvious.

The site is beside where CUH have been planting garry oaks. It's well
drained, got loads of cover for sparrows and is easily viewed without
disturbing the birds too much. It may even be good for photographing them.

There's a backdrop of thick blackberry so the cats are unlikely to be able to
sneak up on birds, though this will need monitoring. Anybody got any old wire
mesh fencing that could be around the sides and back of the area, where the
blackberry is, to cat-proof it ?

There is plenty scope for putting hanging feeders up in the trees about 50
feet to the right. The branches are pretty thick and provide plenty of cover.
Apples would be really neat for robins and flickers.

If you want to contribute by putting some seeds down make sure you scatter
them thinly over the entire area - that way the rabbits will have difficulty
eating it.
