I think crows are too smart for us. The crows of my childhood, also
in Michigan, learned very quickly to fly away (cawing loudly) when
someone carrying a gun appeared. My grandmother tried pointing a
broom at them, but they learned within a month, as I recall, that
there was no danger from the broom, and they wouldn't leave the yard.
I guess that also points up their sharp eyesight.
