Regarding the Stanley Park swans: The trumpeter swan observed at the park is a
migrant. Swans are beginning to come into our state for the winter and reports
of trumpeters are already being reported for the Olympic Peninsula. Tundra
swans, which typically migrate earlier than trumpeters, are already as far south
as Oregon. More swans will continue to arrive until the peak numbers are
reached in late December.

Unfortunately mute swans are being encouraged to breed in the Victoria and
Vancouver area and are expanding. Anyone seeing a mute swan in the wild here in
Washingtion -- please report these to me as I am now working on tracking mutes
to assist WDF&W in remove them from the wild.
