Hmm, another interesting variation in behavior. The Central Illinois crows were certainly very wary. Sneaking through corn fields and soy bean fields it was seldom possible to get closer than 50 yards or so. They would never come near the barn but would raid the hog feeder. These birds would post a sentry to warn the murder of potential murder. I never did get within B-B gun range. (I was about 10 at the time.)
