I agree with Tom and what has been the majority of contributors the last
couple of times this issue came up. Tweeters is among the most
interesting and constructive nets I've come across. While we must keep a
balance, I think self-policing works quite well, eventually we settle
back down. But to try to depoliticize ENTIRELY (I think we're all for
some sort of balance here) the discussion would make this as narrow
(though still useful) a forum as obol is. Tweeters has way more energy
than obol, though I like obol too. (obol is Oregon Birders On Line)

I would suggest that those tweeters who would like to glimpse what a
sanitized, depoliticized tweeters might look like could subscribe to obol
for awhile. Obol's not "bad", it's just not nearly as interesting as
tweeters. I'll ask Greg Gillson, obol manager, to email tweeters as to
how to subscribe (I forget exactly).

BTW, I don't contribute all that much on tweeters (I guess I'm in a back
row), mostly because I don't do that much birding in WA. I did have at
least 600 Sandhill Cranes flying south over my part of south Portland
this morning, bugling in the blue sky and sending chills up and down my
spine. My two year old son even noticed them they were so loud.
