Black-crowned Night-Herons have returned to their winter roost across
from the intersection of NE 6th, NE Faloma, and Marine Drive. Yesterday,
there were one adult and one immature. Today on my way over to
Vancouver, I only saw one immature. There were about 20 mallards there
today and a kingfisher ahs been hanging out.
To get there, take the exit for Marine Drive East from I-5.
After making getting on MArine Drive, proceed about a mile east until you
see the Minit Mart on the right. Park in the much-potholed lot, and walk
across the street. The birds are in the trees are the north side of the
drainage pond. One can currently only see the birds from the east end as
blackberries are too high, and as they were spread farther downstream
last year, there maybe more.
