I think when I checked several months ago it was around $2K, which is not a
whole lot more than some of the fancier fixed-lens Hi-8 camcorders. And yes,
the EOS-VL adapter is a separate item that mounts the lens and couples the
autofocus electronics to the camcorder. Hi-8, by the way, has twice the
resolution of regular televison (400 to 450+ horizontal lines vs. ca. 200).
