Just be glad you have Black-capped Chickadees that come to your feeder. The
BCCH here (Tri-Cities) do not come to feeders, even when black-oil sunflower
seed and suet mixes are provided. It's a real mystery that we ponder off
and on when counting these birds on CBC's etc. There are adequate numbers
but still they don't behave like what you folks describe or what we observe
in New England. They are not shy and will readily show themselves when
pished. Any theories?
