Tom Besser posted: " Other signs of approaching winter (besides the morning
fog and nighttime
temps in the teens) are the rough-legged hawks which suddenly were numerous
on the Palouse this weekend; and when I was driving north out of Moscow
Saturday morning, a snowy owl on a roadside fencepost just a mile from
town."

Tom, This is *exactly* what we want to hear from a "not very skilled
birder" from the Palouse. We hear from Andy Stepniewski occasionally from
the Empty Quarter, but far too little from the Far East. My morning
commute on the Internet is definitely improved with news and views from all
over. So now that the ice is broken let's hear more from you and from
other, too modest lurkers who really *do* have something to say (even if it
is "only" about birds.)
