I just got a letter from Bob Gill, who told me he and Brian McCaffery dyed
about 200 Dunlins last week on the Yukon Delta. These birds were marked
with picric acid on the undersides, and they will show various amounts of
yellow or yellow-orange, especially on the flanks, abdomen and vent. They
are all marked with a single white band on lower left leg, aluminum FWS
band on upper left, and either red and green or red and white (various
combinations) on upper right. Also, about 50 birds were banded but not
dyed.

Watch for these birds; some of them are surely headed for our region.
Although he didn't say, I assume any reports of them should be sent to

Scott, could you put a brief note about this in WOSNEWS?
